Instrumental Jazz Series presents Tenor Madness

Tenor Madness is a quintet featuring two of the most in-demand saxophonists in South Carolina, Robert Lewis and Mark Sterbank. These two jazz masters will be recreating some of the classic “tenor sax battles” by legends such as Sonny Rollins, Sonny Stitt, John Coltrane, Wardel Gray, and Dexter Gordon. They will also perform more modern material from Joshua Redman, Mark Turner, Seamus Blake, and their own original compositions. Lewis is the Director of Jazz Studies at the College of Charleston, as well as being the Musical Director of the Charleston Jazz Orchestra. Sterbank is the head of the Jazz Program at Charleston Southern University, and a featured soloist with the CJO. Both players play extensively throughout the Southern Region with a huge variety of ensembles. The two horns will be joined this night by the fantastic Brett Belanger Trio.
